Tagged as the next big accessory designer, Tarini Nirula's signature handbags have been creating waves with their edgy forms and exquisite designs, making each piece a must have statement accessory for any season. We caught up with Tarini to understand her design philosophy, her exciting future plans and more.. What drives your passion for fashion and design? To put it simply, designing accessories is what comes naturally to me, and I love every bit of it. Looking at all those colors, patterns and textures always leaves me with a tingly feeling of excitement, of creating something completely fresh out of nothing. I have been lucky enough to get a chance to let my creativity flow, be an entrepreneur - my own boss, and also ideate and actually see my designs converted into beautiful handcrafted products, which I feel, is the beauty of my profession. What is the signature style of the Tarini Nirula's label? What is your current collection about? My
label focuses on designs that are dynamic, yet functional and stylish. Over a period of time, I have developed my signature style of shapes, inspired by clean, minimal cuts, adding an Indian touch, with techniques like embroidery & applique work, and also ink work that I do by hand, adding to the exclusivity. Many of my designs are limited edition pieces, which means that the customer gets a piece that only she will sport, making it a one off, ensuring that the customer feels special, and in turn makes the accessory stand out. Simplicity, with style and quality is what my label stands for. My current collection, which I am working on, is an Autumn-Winter collection, inspired by exotic birds, flowers, animals, and colours, using hand-crafted techniques. Which fashion designers do you admire (globally)? I love Micheal Kors and Jil Sander, for their clean and minimalistic design approach. Blumarine, a design label, is another one of my favourites. Any tips f

girls out there on how to pair your bags to get the complete look? Bags, be it a clutch, handbag, tote or a satchel, if carried in the right way, paired with confidence, can make an otherwise ordinary outfit look fabulous. I always believe in simplicity being the best form of sophistication, so I would advice girls not to go overboard. The accessories should compliment the outfit and vice versa. Balance of colours, shape and patterns should be paid attention to. At the end of the day, if you can carry off a bag with panache, while keeping the above in mind, it's a complete look achieved. What was one of the most memorable collections or designs that you will never forget designing? I recently collaborated with Fashion Designer Jenjum Gadi for his A/W 2012 collection, which was showcased at Wills India Fashion Week. Jenjum loved the shapes of my bags and asked me to design some exclusive pieces in my own signature style for him. So I designed an exclusive
range
of bags, which complemented his collection and were showcased on the ramp. To see your own designs on the ramp, is like seeing your own creation in a whole new light. It was and will be one of the most memorable collection I have worked on. You have established a unique style and brand in a very short period. What's next? Yes, but I still have lots that I want to do. The learning never stops, and every experience enriches the next design I create. Work on my next collection, design more bags and experiment some more - maybe even for a social cause. Long term would of course be, breaking through the international market and going global!
